Day One Course Objectives:  Counseling Professionals and therapists may not be aware of the significant number of individuals and families impacted by ABI.  Counselors will learn to screen clients and integrate modified treatment strategies to work effectively with ABI survivors and their families.  Professionals already in the filed of brain injury rehabilitation will learn about the significant impact of ABI on family systems.  Day 1 session topics include:

  • Brain Injury Outcomes:  A Family Perspective
    Targeted Family Intervention Theories
    Identification, Assessment & Intervention
    Complex Families:  Ethical Therapeutic Intervention

Day Two Course Objectives:  Training for professionals working in the filed of brain injury rehabilitation.  The BIFI is an evidenced-based manualized approach to family therapy for families recovering from ABI.

  • Focuses on skill building, psychosocial support and education about ABI
    Instructs clinicians in eleven separate topics that can be implemented independently or as a comprehensive program
    Training includes a complete BIFI manual and kit, supporting educational materials for families and certification as a BIFI practitioner
