Brain Injury
Services was founded in 1989 and was the first case management
program for brain injury in Virginia. We have continued to
be the leader in our field and have demonstrated our leadership by
providing support and guidance to the state and other organizations
who sought to start a case management program for survivors in
Virginia and other states. Our mission is to improve the lives
of people who are affected by a brain injury through community-based
programs, education and advocacy.
Established
in 1994, the mission of the
National Resource
Center for Traumatic Brain Injury
(NRCTBI) is to provide relevant, practical information for
professionals, persons with brain injury, and family members. We
have extensive experience investigating the special needs and
problems of people with brain injury and their families. With input
from consumers and nationally recognized experts, we have developed
a wide variety of assessment tools, information booklets and books,
and intervention kits. In addition, the center
specializes in providing customized training experiences including
workshops and conference presentations. The
NRCTBI is housed at
Virginia Commonwealth
University’s Medical College of Virginia
Campus. Many of our staff are affiliated with the Virginia
Commonwealth Traumatic Brain Injury Model System.
